As I look back on my almost 60 years, I am forever amazed at the changes that we have all faced. What I find is most incredible is the speed of how life is passing by.
I remember leaving school more or less 45 years ago and didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do with my life. One mediocre job lead on to another, but as I realised what I didn’t want to do, I then started to push for self improvement.
Little did I realise that going to college on my 24th birthday would be slowly but surely lead on to a career that has dominated my work career spanning 4 decades. With 10 years active work life remaining, I want to make sure I can finally hang up my tool belt and feel proud of my efforts.
Relationships haven’t always been easy, but when you find the one, I aim to hold on with a firm grip. Running has been a big part of my life for just over 10 years, but I wish I had more time to concentrate on my fitness and match times and performance of old. I am not shackled by my age zipping along at a rapier pace, but I am all too aware that I must have structured focus to everything I am doing.
And finally, I always thought it was a good day if I had learnt something or taught someone something. Over time, this has developed in 2 main areas that guide my decisions in life:
- Can I help someone?
- Aim to always have the ability to have a choice.
